Soque River Fisheries Assessment
Nonpoint source pollution control is vital to residents in the Soque River Basin. Gaining an awareness and appreciation for the aquatic fauna in the Soque River and educating citizens within the watershed of the impacts of their activities are both critical links to addressing nonpoint source pollution. Fisheries assessment activities and educational programs in Habersham County by UGA Cooperative Extension during 2006 have proved successful in linking citizens to ownership of the responsibility they have for nonpoint source pollution control in the Soque River Basin as part of the on-going Soque River Watershed Partnership in Habersham County.
