About CAES: Impact: Making Sense 2005

Taking Stock of Livestock

The Georgia livestock industry produces healthy cattle, pigs and poultry for the ever-hungry market.

It also supports a large aquaculture business, which supplies catfish and other farm-grown fish. On the non-food production side, Georgia is quickly becoming a popular home for a growing horse population. At population. At the same time, federal regulations and public concerns require a close watch on waste management.

To keep all these animals healthy and to help producers raise livestock efficiently and economically, the faculty at the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences contribute a large knowledge base.
