Department: Crop and Soil Sciences
Pamela J. Brown has been affiliated with the University of Georgia since 1988 when she returned to school to pursue a degree in history.
She joined the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences in 1994 and worked as an accounting assistant and technical editor before moving into her current position.
In her present role, she assists the department head in running a diverse and complex department, managing 45 faculty and 60 temporary and classified staff at three locations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to handling all personnel issues, information technology and computer support, departmental reporting, faculty appointments, promotion and tenure, award and review processes, as well as ensuring the department is in compliance with university policies and procedures.
She also works closely with statewide faculty and staff to handle both routine and problem situations, and provides guidance on a multitude of issues.
Pam believes that her greatest purpose as a manager is to provide her faculty and staff with everything they need to be successful.
