What is the Georgia Farm Bureau Legislative Internship?
The Georgia Farm Bureau and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia announce the co-sponsorship of an 12 to 16 week Legislative Internship with the Georgia Farm Bureau's Headquarters in Macon, Georgia. This is an excellent opportunity for college students or recent graduates to become involved in farm policy development, education and implementation with the Georgia Farm Bureau, Georgia's largest farm organization.
Minimum Requirements:
- have a background or interest in agriculture and rural communities
- have excellent skills in written and spoken English
- have the ability to produce quality and timely written reports
- have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to meet and engage people
- have basic personal computer skills to include experience with Windows, word processing and the Internet
- attend required meetings and conduct oneself in a way that will advance the goals of Georgia Farm Bureau
- be willing to travel and attend meetings and other activities after regular work hours
- have a valid Georgia Drivers' License at all times
Interns will have the opportunity to:
- research legislative bills of significance to Georgia Agriculture and write reports to inform Farm Bureau leadership and staff of pending legislation
- write articles on a scheduled basis for publication in Farm Bureau newsletters
- accompany Georgia Farm Bureau personnel to legislative sessions in Atlanta and to Farm Bureau meetings throughout the state
