What is the House Rural Caucus Legislative Internship?
The Rural Caucus in the Georgia House of Representatives and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia announce the co-sponsorship of an 8 to 16 week Legislative INternship with the House Rural Caucus. This is an excellent opportunity for students to become involved in issues and legislation that impact agriculture and rural communities.
Minimum Requirements:
- enrolled as a junior or senior in good academic standing in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia
- have a background or interest in agriculture and rural communities
- have excellent skills in written and spoken English
- have the ability to produce quality and timely written reports
- have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to meet and engage people
- be willing to travel and attend meeting and other activities after regular work hours
- have a valid Georgia Drivers' License at all times
Interns will have the opportunity to:
- to work full-time and report directly to the Chair of the House Rural Caucus
- research legislative bills of significance to agriculture and rural communities
- prepare written summaries of proposed legislation that may impact rural areas
- arrange meetings and find sponsors for weekly Rural Caucus meetings
- arrange speakers to debate the merits of legislation of interest to Rural Georgia

- Interns will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and a $1,000 monthly stipend
