What are the requirements?

  • Applicants must have a major in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
  • Applicants must have completed at least two semesters of undergraduate enrollment before the upcoming Fall Semester.
  • Applicants must have at least a 2.7 overall GPA.
  • Applicants must plan to be enrolled in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences for the following Fall and Spring Semesters.

How are applicants selected?

Because of the limited number of ambassador positions, we look for individuals who will devote time and effort to the program. Ambassadors must be enthusiastic, personable, and possess good communication skills. In addition, we are looking for individuals who bring diversity to the group (how they came to enroll in CAES, hometowns, career plans, majors, race, gender, year in school, talents, etc.)

We usually select seven or eight new ambassadors each year to fill positions made vacant by graduating ambassadors.

You must attend one of the two Information Sessions (see dates and location below).

Applications should be turned in to 102 Conner Hall. The first round of interviews is a group format with current ambassadors.

Applicants selected for a second round of interviews are notified by email. Faculty, staff and/or alumni meet with individual applicants during the second round of interviews. During this interview applicants should come prepared to present a three-minute presentation on a topic given to you prior to your interview.

2008 Selection Timetable:

  • February 5 and 6 - Information Sessions; MANDATORY for all students wanting to apply; only need to attend one (5:00-6:00 pm - CAES Activity Center; Four Towers)
