Instructor:
Dr. Josef M. Broder

jbroder@uga.edu

Purpose:
To provide students with an understanding of and appreciation for the majors in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the student support services that enhance the quality of the educational experience at the University of Georgia.

Instructional Method:
The method of instruction will be primarily by lecture. There will be approximately twenty invited speakers during the semester discussing topics from Agribusiness to Health Services. The class is large but all students are encouraged to ask questions of the speakers. Due to the size of the class and the fact that speakers are our guests, all students are expected be in the classroom on time.

Grading Procedure:
The final grade in the course is based on attendance and class assignments. This is a large class with invited speakers; therefore, it is necessary for each of you to be in class at the beginning of the period. Students arriving more than ten minutes late will be considered absent for 1Ú2 or 0.5 of the class. Class assignments can be used to offset up to 1.0 absence. Requests for excused absences for health, family hardship or approved extracurricular activities must be documented, submitted in writing and signed by the student within one week of the absence. Final grades are based on the following attendance schedule:
