Objectives of course:

• Identify the major forage species used in southeastern USA and their main characteristics.
• Understand relationships between ecology and physiology of forage plants and their adaptation and management.
• Relate animal (cattle, horse, sheep, and goat) performance to forage quality and management.

Course assignments:

• All students: textbook assignments, lectures, and handouts.
• Graduate students: Written in-depth review paper on a grassland topic.

Course requirements for grading purposes:

• All students: weekly written quiz on a set date and comprehensive final exam.
• Graduate students: term paper due one week before last scheduled class..

Not required.  Students with excellent attendance will receive positive consideration if their final grade is borderline between two letter grades.
