Food Science Forum is designed to help you in your transition from the classroom to the workplace and to give you a better perspective on food and culture. Class sessions will be conducted from 12:20 AM to 1:10 PM each Friday or a suitable alternate time.

Textbook:   None required.

Attendance:   Attendance at the lecture is required. Written reports will be required for any excused absence.

Class Requirements: Each student will be expected to develop a resume ¢ suitable for job application and make arrangements with the Career Center to participate in a mock, taped interview.   A proof of interview must be submitted before Spring Break. In addition you will be expected to develop a portfolio of your activities here in Food Science at UGA suitable for getting that first job.

Mentors: Each student will be assigned an e-mentor from the food industry and a second mentor from the foreign graduate students in the Department. With the help of these mentors you will be expected to develop a job-search or graduate-program strategy and a career plan in writing as well as prepare a foreign dish for the international potluck luncheon.  

Academic Honesty: Students at the University of Georgia are responsible for being aware of the policies regarding academic honesty as detailed in the booklet A Culture of Honesty.

Students Choice: Several of the sessions will be based on topics submitted and voted on by students in the class.

Grades:   No tests will be given. Grades will be assigned on the basis of attendance and completion of assignments. Grades for the course are confined to Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory.
