Academics: Internships

New Zealand Grazing Dairies Internship

Spend up to six months in New Zealand learning dairy grazing techniques from the world’s masters.  New Zealand investors are opening grazing dairies in Georgia and looking for students to train for high-paying management positions.  Spend the summer, the fall semester, or both interning on a beautiful grazing dairy while earning wages and academic credit.

Academics:

  • Earn AESC 3910 International Agriculture Internship (3 credit hours)
  • Assignments - Daily Journal Project
  • Possibly receive additional credit - departmental discretion
  • Optional Maymester course

Academics:

  • $12.50 NZ (9.69 US) per hour x 50 hr. avg. work week
  • Housing will be provided (2 students per location)

Dates:

  • Internship A: June 8th - August 10th (9 weeks)
  • Internship B: June 8th - December 7th (26 weeks)
  • Internship C: August 10 - December 7th (15 weeks)

Travel Information:

  • Airfare ($1,550 US) can be paid with cash advance against wages

Student Requirements:

  • Passport
  • New Zealand Work Visa (UGA staff will offer assistance with paperwork)
  • UGA Travel & Health Insurance ($1.00 a day)
  • Academic course work

Cost:

  • Tuition (HOPE can apply)
  • Meals and other expenses for personal travel during free time
