Interdisciplinary Certificate in Leadership & Service
Student Projects
Projects are an integral part of this certificate. Through leadership and service projects, students gain hands-on experience and skills. Below are some past projects and service activities.
Georgia Agribusiness Council Intern
As an intern at the Georgia Agribusiness Council (GAC), Betsy MacMillan has a variety of responsibilities related to membership services. She organizes the Council’s Member Appreciation Events which are hosted across the state to unite Council members, staff, and potential members. She also works on developing education based materials for younger audiences such as FFA and 4-H that work closely with the Council. By working directly with the Communications Director, Betsy is gaining experience in event planning, publications, and public relations.
Career Center Intern
At the Career Center, Jennifer Mangon's responsibilities include being a liaison to various departments and organizations on campus, advising all students on methods of advancing their career planning (i.e. resumes, interviewing, etiquette, etc.), presenting programs to student groups and/or classes, and assist Career Consultants with programs and projects that address the needs of the student body. As an intern, there are several opportunities to collaborate with other interns or staff members on an original program and to address any other unique ways to help students with their future careers. This internship has been a wonderful experience to help others enhance their career skills as well as to help Jennifer become a more confident communicator and more developed professional.
Security Leadership Fellow
Elyse Pohl is serving as a Security Leadership Fellow at the Center for International Trade and Security at UGA. She assists with the preparations for the biannual Export Control Academy, a two-week conference for foreign officials regarding proper export control systems and licensing.
