Accomplishments of the CAES SRG

Obtained the endorsement and support from Dean William Flatt, Dean Gale Buchanan, and Dean Scott Angle. The deans have encouraged supervisors to grant staff the time to attend scheduled SRG meetings.

Received funds from Dean Angle for travel reimbursement to CAES/SRG and UGA Staff Council meetings.

Arranged annual meetings with the dean to express concerns and issues. Requested that former Dean Gale Buchanan encourage faculty to acknowledge staff on research papers. The dean responded favorably and presented this to the CAES Faculty Council.
Members appointed by former Dean Buchanan to serve on vital committees for the college, including search committees for various administrative positions and the committee for the Strategic Planning for the College through the year 2010. In 2004, Provost Arnett Mace appointed a staff member to the search committee for the CAES Dean and Director.

Amended the bylaws to have one-third of the members rotated off at the end of each year, leaving approximately two-thirds of the group in service. This allows group continuity.

Members served as officers on the UGA Staff Council and the Executive Committee.
CAES Faculty Council bylaws were amended to allow the CAES SRG chairperson a vote on the council.

Developed individual networks and/or systems for distributing information to constituencies. Electronic communication facilitates dissemination of information to staff all across the state in a timely manner.

Created a web page which is linked on the CAES web page. The page contains bylaws, a membership list, and minutes of the meetings: http://admin.caes.uga.edu/committee/srg/ There is also a link to the UGA Staff Council web page.

Obtained an Athens-based staff award system for staff on campus and in the North Georgia extension district similar to the Griffin and Tifton campuses.
