Diversity lunch – There is an important discussion coming up on Wednesday, Nov. 18 (Room 307 Conner Hall) on recruiting diverse faculty. I would like to encourage each department to have someone in attendance, preferably the department head if available. Enhancing faculty diversity is a major need for the college, and these lunch time seminars are shedding valuable light on the problems and opportunities.
In addition to the live venue in Conner Hall, the discussion will be broadcast via video conference to Griffin (219 Flynt Bldg.), Statesboro (SE District Conf. Room) and Tifton (Conference Rooms 2 & 3). The Lunch and Learn sessions are 12:00 – 1:00.
2009 budget – The revenue figures for Georgia just came out and they are not good again. Revenue was down 17.8% from this month last year or 15.1% for the year to date. This suggests more budget cuts. We must see a rapid uptick in revenue for the next few months to avoid more cuts.
