Harley Langdale

• Born: January 24, 1888, Clinch County, Georgia
• Died: April 10, 1972
• Honored: November 2, 1979

Occupation: Practiced law; elected municipal judge in Valdosta, Georgia.

Accomplishments: Judge Langdale, through his interest of forestry and gum naval stores, built a wood empire of approximately 200,000 acres. With his sons, he organized The Langdale Company to manage these lands. They built a central gum processing plant, installed a wood preserving unit and constructed a modern sawmill. The Langdale was the largest producer of gum turpentine in the world. He was one of the organizers of the American Turpentine Farmers Association and served as its president for nearly 30 years.
