Fred Voigt

Accomplishments: Mr. Voigt promoted and expanded tobacco production in Ware County. He was one of the first farm growers in Georgia of Foundation Seed, serving two terms as president of Foundation Seed, Inc. He was a pecan farmer, and his interest in fertility studies with the Experiment Stations helped make Georgia the nation's leading pecan producer. He was one of the original founders of the Georgia Farm Bureau. He served on the U.S. Technical Advisory Committee for Tobacco and the Georgia Agricultural Commodity Commission for Tobacco. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the UGA Ag Alumni Association and the Georgia State Farm Bureau Federation. He was named Man of the Year by Progressive Farmer magazine. Under his leadership, the Ag Alumni Association's Resolution Committee initiated the renovation of Conner Hall.
