Enrichment of Young Minds

The Enrichment of Young Minds (TEOYM) program, a program created and staffed by Spalding County Parks and Recreation now meets on the Griffin Campus during the summer and provides students with a unique opportunity to spend a large part of a summer on a college campus where there are fewer distractions and a greater opportunity to focus on academic work. Instructors keep student's mind academically engaged to avoid having to relearn things that they know but often forget over the summer. In addition, students learn new things or catch up on content not quite grasped. There are some broadening and enriching experiences in areas never considered. And it all happens at the flagship university of the state of Georgia - The University of Georgia.

Math and Parent Partnership Program

The Math and Parent Partnership Program offers math instruction to parents of elementary school children in the Griffin-Spalding and surrounding City/County School Systems.

The MAPP program is a true program of encouragement, support, empowerment, outreach and partnerships. It encourages parents to get involved with their child's learning and with their school. It empowers both parents and teachers by introducing them to appropriate math content and new, fun teaching strategies that will engage their child(ren) at home and school. Parents and teachers, who participate in class together, have open communication with each other while exploring MAPP program content. It is a true partnership between parents, teachers, the schools, school and central administration, UGA Mathematics Education Department and UGA - Griffin Campus Continuing Education. In addition to content and pedagogy, parents come away with a better understanding of CRCT content and the Georgia Performance Standards.
