Animal Research Committee

The Animal Research Committee will assist the Assistant Dean, Tifton Campus in establishing a practical and reasonable policy with regard to the use of animals in research programs at the CAES Tifton Campus. Specific responsibilities will be to serve as a review committee to work with all personnel in assuming an acceptable compliance with all appropriate federal, state, and local regulations impacting on animal research. They will counsel scientists interested in animal research and assist and advise in the conduct of research as necessary to satisfy appropriate rules and regulations.

Awards & Recognitions Committee

The Tifton Campus Awards and Recognitions Committee will assist the Assistant Dean and Location Coordinators in the development of an on-going program to recognize important and significant contributions and accomplishments of all personnel at the CAES Tifton Campus. They will also work with the Assistant Dean in developing appropriate means of acknowledging such recognition and honors. The Committee will work closely with organizations such as Sigma Xi and cooperate where appropriate. (Updated 2009)

Coastal Plain Arboretum Committee

The Arboretum Committee will assist the Assistant Dean, Tifton Campus in the development of designated areas on the Tifton Campus for an arboretum, nature trail, etc. Specific responsibilities of the Committee will be to develop overall plans and work with the Assistant Dean and others in the implementation of these plans. Efforts will also be made in the identification and development of funding sources for the Arboretum.

Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee

The Committee will advise the Assistant Dean, Tifton Campus on ways to create, support and value diversity at the CAES Tifton Campus. Specific responsibilities of the committee will be to develop overall plans and work with the Assistant Dean and others in the implementation of these plans.

Graduate Program Committee

The Graduate Program Committee will work with the Assistant Dean, Tifton Campus, Coordinators, and Department Heads in developing and enhancing our graduate program at the CAES Tifton Campus. Emphasis will be placed on exploring ways in which our involvement in the graduate program at the University can be improved and enhanced such that it is complementary to the on-going research program at the CAES Tifton Campus.

Greenhouse Committee

The CAES Tifton Campus Greenhouse Committee will have overall coordination for all greenhouse facilities at the Tifton Campus. The committee will work with the CAES Tifton Campus administration in the establishment of greenhouse standards or ground rules for use of CAES Tifton Campus greenhouses. They will work in the development standards for greenhouse use and experiment identification. They will make recommendations to the administration regarding equipment and facilities upgrade needed to ensure the most effective utilization of all reenhouses. They will develop greenhouse diagrams, inventory greenhouse space, and work to ensure that all scientists have reasonable access to the greenhouses.

Information & Technology Committee

This Committee will serve in an advisory capacity to the Assistant Dean, Tifton Campus and to the Tifton Campus manager of the Office of Information Technology, with regards to campus IT needs. Specific activities will include the development of a plan for the upgrade of existing IT hardware as well as the development of a strategic plan for future IT needs for the Tifton Campus, research farms and Research and Education Centers. Library Committee

The Library Committee will work closely with the Assistant Dean, Tifton Campus and Research Leaders in the development and support of the CAES Tifton Campus Library. Specific activities and effort will be directed toward acquisitions for the Library and effective and efficient use of the Library by all personnel. This Committee will be especially helpful in the identification of further ways in which the Library can effectively enhance our overall research programs. The Committee will carefully and constantly monitor needs to keep our Library current and up-to-date.

Safety & Hazard Committee

The Safety and Hazard Committee of the CAES Tifton Campus will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of Tifton Campus safety and hazard prevention planning. The Committee will interact with the Assistant Dean, Coordinators and USDA-ARS Research Leaders in the development and implementation of safety and hazard guidelines. In addition, input will be sought from all personnel in determining the various safety needs of the Tifton Campus.

The Committee will evaluate all aspects of safety, including but not limited to offices, laboratories, storage areas, pesticide usage, machine and equipment operation, and traffic. The cooperation of all Tifton Campus personnel will be needed for this Committee to achieve the goals that have been set for it. (Updated 2009)
