Tifton Campus: Administration: Employee Resources

Manual of Operating Procedures — Reference Guide

Administrative Support Staff support and serve all programs on the Tifton Campus. The duties performed by administrative support staff are critical to the daily operations of the campus. While individual administrative support personnel may have slightly different specific duties and responsibilities, these sections provide an overview of the general duties and responsibilities. The MOP is a reference guide. It does not cover every operation/function. (See UGA Administrative Policies & Procedures.)

It is imperative that the administrative suppot team maintains a strong, service-oriented, flexible approach to performing their duties.

Chain of Command and Reporting

All administrative support personnel (except those budgeted in individual academic or support and service unit budgets) are budgeted in the budget of the Assistant Dean, UGA CAES Tifton Campus and report to the Business Manager, Tifton Campus Business Office (TCBO).

The Business Manager is administratively responsible for these support personnel and will responsible for:

  • Job descriptions
  • Performance evaluations
  • Approval of leave
  • Approval of travel
  • Coordination of Tifton Campus Administrative Support Team, including administrative and staff support for the Administrative Support Team Leader.

Training

The Business Manager, TCBO, will work with the Administrative Support Team Leader to identify training needs for new and existing employees. He/she will, using TCBO, University and private sources, schedule training as needed to provide skilled and proficient clerical staff.

Request for Administrative Support Services

All requests for changes in service shall be in writing to the Business Manager, TCBO.

The Business Manager will, within the resources available to the TCBO, provide a broad range of services that best meet the needs of programs. If new and/or changed services cannot be provided within the resources available to the Business Manager, his/her recourse is to the Assistant Dean.

Annual Performance Evaluations

The Business Manager will conduct annual performance evaluations for all administrative support personnel. He/she will solicit input from appropriate faculty and staff with whom individual administrative support personnel work on a daily basis.

The Business Manager will provide signed annual evaluations for administrative support personnel to the Office of the Assistant Dean for secondary review and approval.
