Process Plant Samples

Plant samples are received in the mail or walked in by county agents and are distributed by the secretaries to the appropriate specialist or lab diagnostician. If the specialist/lab diagnostician is out of the office the sample is placed in the walkin cooler and a note placed on the specialist/diagnostician's door making them aware of the sample.

Plant Pathology secretaries take this one step further by entering all needed information into the Distance Diagnostics thru Digital Imaging (DDDI) System. The needed information consist of farmers' name, address and contact info, county agent info, crop name and disease symptoms. It is then sent via the system to the diagnostician for diagnosis, from there to the specialist for a recommendation. (Training will be required for this program).
