What do you do?

The Ozias-Akins Biotechnology Laboratory is renowned for cutting edge investigations into aposporous apomixis (asexual reproduction through seeds) in Pennisetum species and relatives as well as the genetic enhancement of peanut applying the tools of molecular biology and transformation.

Where did you get your training?

BS – FSU; Ph.D. – Florida

Why did you choose to make this your career?

Fascinated by biological science

How long have you done this job? How long have you worked in Tifton?

Since 1981; Since 1986

What is the most interesting part of your job?

The research – developing and testing hypotheses. World travel is an added benefit that always holds interesting experiences.

Why do you think the UGA Tifton Campus is a good place to do your job or to work?

Great atmosphere for interdisciplinary collaboration.
