Conservation Tillage: Cover Crops

Balansa Clover

Photo: Balansa CloverBalansa clover is a cool-season legume that tolerates grazing and haying. It should be noted that early-growth balansa should not be heavily grazed, but allowed to establish itself and flower before being actively grazed. Balansa can produce 3,000-4,500 lbs of biomass per acre. It grows rapidly in the spring and matures 2-3 weeks earlier than crimson clover.
