Buckwheat

Photo: BuckwheatBuckwheat is a summer annual. It is neither grass nor legume, but a broadleaf plant recognized by its pointed leaves and tiny white flowers. It can tolerate a wide range of soils, and is known to loosen tight soil. It will grow rapidly and edge out weeds. It should be noted that buckwheat cannot tolerate frost.

Seed 1 bu/A (48 lb/A). Late May to August.
