Agricultural & Applied Economics: Alumni

Make a Gift to Support Agricultural and Applied Economics

We Depend on YOU

Through your contributions, you can become a part of the department's future success by strengthening our programs, students, and faculty. The department depends on gifts from alumni and friends like you to fund the following programs: general improvement fund, scholarships, leadership awards, assistantships and distinguished professorships.

General Improvement Fund for Agricultural and Applied Economics

The Improvement Fund is used to support lectures by distinguished scholars, student recruitment, international travel for faculty and students, etc. You can help support specific activities by designating such activities when contributing to the Improvement Fund.

Scholarships

The department has several scholarship endowments that were established and supported by alumni and friends.

Additional funds in these scholarships and new scholarships honoring other distinguished agricultural and applied economists would help attract top students and strengthen the department's academic program.

Leadership Awards

Funding is needed for Leadership Awards to support student leadership development. This award reflects the importance of educational experiences outside of the classroom. A student organization or student leader could be awarded a Leadership Award.

Funded activities from the Leadership Awards include the following:

  • Travel for a student to attend national or regional meetings as a club representative to make a student presentation, participate in a contest or to run/serve as a national officer.
  • Travel of collegiate teams to regional or national competitions.
  • A club or organization activity that promotes the development of teamwork, presentation skills, or problem-solving techniques.

The need for Leadership Awards far exceeds available funds. Contributions in this area greatly impact student leadership development.

Your financial support is critical and greatly appreciated. Contributions may be sent directly to the department or to the University of Georgia with a designation for the department. For more information call 706-542-2481 or email Jeffrey H. Dorfman , Interim Department Head.
