Strong Job Opportunities in Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources
Employment opportunities for U.S. college graduates with expertise in food, agriculture, and natural resources are expected to remain strong during the next five years according to the latest projections. Management and business will offer the most opportunities.
A recent study examined college graduates entering scientific and professional occupations over the years 2005-2010. This study identified 52,000 annual job openings for new graduates compared to only 49,300 qualified graduates available each year for these positions.
The four major factors defining the market for graduates in the next five years include consumers and their preferences, evolving business structure in the U.S. food system, new developments in science and technology, and public policy choices and food system security. The report, Employment Opportunities for College Graduates, is available on-line.
