F. Wendell (Wen) Williams Scholarship
Professor Williams' Career
Wen Williams joined the faculty of UGA's Agricultural Economics department in 1968 and quickly became one of the department's most widely appreciated teachers. He developed a commodities and futures course, cross-listed with the UGA Terry College of Business, that is still popular today.
Every spring for 15 years, Williams took a group of students to Chicago to visit the Chicago Board of Trade, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Mid-America Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank.
Williams received numerous teaching awards including awards
from the Southern Agricultural Economics Association and the American Agricultural
Economics Association. From 1985-1997 he served as Associate Director and Associate
Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences,
University of Georgia. He also served as the Chairman of the University Curriculum
Committee, Chairman of the University Admissions Committee and several terms
on the University Council. He retired in March of 1997.
