SPCTF BrochureThe Georgia Structural Pest Control Training Facility is located on the University of Georgia's Griffin Campus. The facility was built to train and educate termite control professionals, regulatory inspectors, and Cooperative Extension personnel on the proper treatment and inspection of homes for subterranean termites. The facility is a 3,000 square foot unfinished foundation and a 925 square foot outdoor pavilion built of various construction types found in typical Georgian homes. The facility was dedicated in 1998 following a cooperative agreement between the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Training programs are held twice in the spring and twice in the fall. • New developments in termiticides
  • Formosan termites in Georgia
  • Application equipment, calibration, and demonstrations
  • Safety considerations, including protective clothing, electrical precautions, back siphoning, and chemical spills
  • Environmental concerns, including runoff and disposal of rinsate and containers
  • Void and sub-slab treatment demonstrations, including foaming

Completion of the 1.5-day training program provides 11 hours of credit towards certification or 6 hours of credit towards registration in the category of wood-destroying organisms. The workshop's registration fee includes instructional materials, uniform patches, a UGA Certificate of Completion, lunch, and refreshments.
