Horticulture: Extension & Outreach
Extension Faculty
Extension faculty within the Department of Horticulture reside in five locations across the state:
- Athens (The University of Georgia),
- Tifton (Rural Development Center),
- Statesboro (Georgia Southern University),
- Griffin (Georgia Experiment Station), and
- Byron (USDA Stone Fruit and Tree/Nut Laboratory).
Faculty are located in these sites to be in close proximity to the industries and commodity groups with whom they work.
Fruit/Nut Crops

- Commodity Assignment: postharvest handling research and extension programs on fruits and vegetables
- Extension Horticulturist – Soil Calibration
- 100% Extension
- Commodity Assignment: Jointly funded position between Crops and Soil Science and Horticulture. Determination of lime and fertilizer rates for current agronomic and horticultural crop production systems
