Research Interests and Current Efforts  

Ecology, epidemiology and management of diseases on vegetable crops. Current efforts focus on Phytophthora blight (Phytophthora capsici) and diseases caused by oomycetes and other pathogens such as Fusarium wilt, bacterial wilt, southern blight, downy mildew, and gummy stem blight. One of my primary objectives is to develop integrated approaches for management of vegetable diseases, including the use of cultural practices, host resistance, chemicals, biologicals, and other ecological and genetic manipulations. Research in my lab is also directed towards detection, identification, and analysis of genetic diversity of pathogens causing vegetable diseases
