SAFE (Shooting Awareness Fun Education)

This is a specialized 4-H program that introduces youth to the sport of shooting; promotes safety; develops discipline, poise, self-control, and re-enforces the concepts of teamwork and good sportsmanship. Certified SAFE coaches Gary Crosby and Mike & Theresa Freeman, lead these clubs.

Gary leads the compound Archery Club and the Freemans lead the Modified Trap and Trap & Skeet Clubs. Team members compete in a qualification matches in early spring. Those who qualify move on to state competition at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in May. Youth in the Modified Trap Club also have the opportunity to join in the Georgia Scholastic Shooters Association which provides 4-H'ers more competition style practice and the chance to win college scholarships.
