Paint Fest Was WONDERFUL!

We all had a great time meeting John and Linda Feight and hearing about the Foundation for Hospital Art. The evening started with fabulous chilli provided by Alexis LaRoche. Then we all got painting. What fun. The picture below summarizes some of our work. John is a great artist. We finished six murals of six paintings each. More pictures will be added here in the next few days. We missed you tonight.

Our efforts came together as four murals that will go to a children's hospital in California. The murals will be hung with space between the panels, which makes them even more life-like.

Thanks John for letting us share in this wonderful service project. We look forward to working with you in the future on another, even larger project!

What John has done with his art: Over 500,000 volunteers and patients worldwide have united in an effort to create over 35,000 paintings for over 2,000 hospitals in 194 countries. The Foundation welcomes your love and support in their mission of compassion through art.

The initial concept of painting for people in hospitals was born in 1975 when John Feight volunteered in Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. The idea to establish the Foundation for Hospital Art developed through years of painting in hospitals and seeing the comfort art gave to the patients, medical staff and visitors.

Out of this experience has evolved the firm belief that nothing a hospital can provide in the way of technological and scientific marvels is as supportive as an atmosphere of compassion, both human and aesthetic, in these institutions where we all must spend time.
