Please explore our website to learn about the many programs and services offered by Richmond County Extension. Here are answers to frequently asked questions:

Does Richmond County Extension offer soil and water testing?

Yes, Richmond County Extension Office accepts soil and water samples in our office, then we ship the samples to be tested at the UGA lab in Athens. We offer a variety of soil and water tests. Please review the UGA testing schedule for a listing of the many types of analyses offered through our lab services. *Please note that prices in the fee schedule do not include postage and therefore do not reflect county testing prices. Prices and availability of testing services are subject to change. Contact us at 706-821-2350 to inquire about pricing and availability of test kits.

The most common soil test is the S1 (Routine Test) which tests soil for levels of pH, Lime, Phosphorous, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, and Manganese. We charge $8.00 for each S1 soil sample submission. We accept payments of cash, check or money order payable to Richmond County Extension. We are open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. It takes approximately 7-10 business days for S1 soil test results to be returned from the lab. Follow our soil sample instructions or view this brief soil sampling video for guidance on pulling a proper sample.
