Berrien County Extension Office:
Testing Services

Soil Testing

Soil samples can be taken with a spade or soil sampling tube. Bags are available at our office. Take a thin vertical slice or core of soil from a minimum of 10 random locations in the area to be tested. Sample to a depth of 6 inches. Combine, mix thoroughly together in a plastic container, and fill the soil sample bag to the FILL LINE. Fold top to fill line and fasten metal flaps securely to avoid spillage during shipment. Return samples to our office. Routine soil tests are $6 each.

Other Tests Available

Basic water tests are available that test the minerals, pH and hardness for $20.

Bacterial (coliform) tests are available for $40. Kits are available at our office.

Plant tissue analysis are $25 each.

If you have a specific need, give us a call to see if the lab can run the tests you require.
