General Info

Camden County 4-H offers a wide variety of educational and fun activities. We meet with the 5th grade 4-H'ers once a month in the classroom at each of the nine elementary schools. We meet with the two middle schools after school and with the high school in the evening.

What is 4-H?

4-H is an educational program focusing on the needs, interest, and concerns of young people. Our aim is to help Camden youth gain a positive self-concept, develop social skills, and decision-making abilities and learn subject knowledge needed for a productive life.  4-H members develop leadership and citizenship skills through individual project work, group activities, community service, and school meetings. We are the youth division of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. 4-H began as corn and tomato clubs, but has developed into the largest youth organization in the world.

Who can be a 4-H’er?

Any Camden county youth ages 9 – 19.

How much does it cost?

4-H News!!

Helen Clark & Nicholas Cole Earn Top 4-H Honors

Master 4-H'ersIn the 4-H program, members work hard to earn the highest honor of being a Master 4-H’er. This year we had 2 members earn Master 4-H’er status.

Nicholas Cole has been participating with the SAFE shooting sports program since the 5th grade when his father, Conn Cole, began the program in Camden County. He has been a member of the BB Team and the Air Pistol Team. This year Nic earned first place at the state target challenge weekend at Rock Eagle in the Air Pistol Competition in a tie breaker shoot off. He has earned Master 4-H’er status and will be recognized at State Congress in July.

Helen Clark earned 1st place at the district project achievement competition, which earned her a trip to Georgia 4-H State Congress in Atlanta to compete against the other district winners in her category. She earned 1st at State Congress in the International category, earning Master 4-H’er status. With this honor Helen earned a week-long trip to Atlanta for National 4-H Congress. She enjoyed a week of trips, tours, special meals, community service and learning projects at National Congress.

Helen also competed at State Congress in the Deans Award and Leadership in Action interview and application contest. These two contests designate the highest honors a 4-H’er can earn. Helen placed 1st in the state in both of these contest, earning 2 more master 4-H’er status awards. As the Leadership in Action state winner, Helen was given the opportunity to attend 4-H National Conference for a second time which was held at the 4-H National Conference Center in Chevy Chase Maryland. Conference activities included a variety of educational excursions to historic sites in the area. At the conference, participants attended and presented workshops on topics related to Civic Engagement, Program Development and Youth Leadership. The Georgia delegation was selected by conference coordinators to present a workshop on the Leadership In Action program. On the final day of the conference, 4-H delegates met with their legislators on Capitol Hill. The Georgia Delegation met with Senators and Congressmen to communicate how valuable 4-H has been to them personally and to their communities as a whole.
