Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program
Helping Families Eat Better for Less
EFNEP is a program that helps families stretch their food dollar, eat healthier meals and snacks, and reduce the risk of foodborne illness. EFNEP is federally funded and offered nationwide. In Georgia, EFNEP is offered throught Cooperative Extension at The University of Georgia and Fort Vally State University.
EFNEP has been funded for over 40 years because it has demonstrated impact. After completing the series of 6 EFNEP sessions, an average of 90% of Georgia EFNEP participants made positive changes in their diets over the past three years.
The EFNEP program is available at no charge to agencies or participants. It is a series of 6 to 8 one hour sessions held at a mutually agreed upon time. At least 3 participants are required for a group. Participants receive a certificate and cookbook upon completion of at least 6 sessions.
