Senior Programs
Senior County Council
Senior 4-H’ers are able to participate in 4-H by attending a monthly meeting at our 4-H office in Jonesboro. We meet every second Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. During Senior County Council students are able to meet other seniors from around the county, participate in other educational lessons, community service, and learn about other opportunities for their age group. 4-H meetings are not held at the local high schools at this time.

Project Achievement
4-H’ers are encouraged to complete a 4-H project which is also known as an illustrated speech. 9th – 12th graders must complete a portfolio before competition that is related to their chosen category that summarizes a whole year worth of work and prepare an illustrated speech that is a maximum of 12 minutes along with poster boards. Senior 4-H’ers will compete at the district level which is in March at Rock Eagle in Eatonton, GA. Not only will Senior 4-H’ers compete within their categories they will have the chance to elect new District 4-H Senior Board members and will even have the chance to run for a seat at the district level.

How to Get Started?
- Visit the Georgia 4-H Senior Project Achievement website.
- Select Senior Project List and chose a category that interests you. You can create a topic that is related to your category For example: Project: Archaeology/Topic: Mummies.
- After selecting a topic, think of 5-6 main topics that are most important to help the audience understand your topic.
- Use an outline to help you organize your presentation. The following pages are helpful when planning your project and posters:
- Write out your presentation and put it on index cards.
- Prepare your visual aids (posters, props, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Practice your demonstration: take a deep breath and begin with a smile.
State Council

This summer event is open to rising 9th – 12th graders and is held in the month of June. At state council there are educational workshops for Senior 4-H’ers, the annual Iron Clover Competition, Master 4-H Day, and the election of the New Georgia 4-H Board of Directors.
Senior Camp

Senior Camp is for 9th – 12th grade 4-H'ers. In 2012, Clayton County Seniors will attend Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA. The total cost will be determined at a later date. S
Fall Forum

9th – 12th graders are invited to the Fall Forum at Rock Eagle which is usually held the 2nd weekend in December. Seniors that attend this event have the opportunity to enjoy the Hard Rock Eagle Café, Clovers & Company performance, a winter dance, recreation, workshops, Change Challenge, a talent contest, the 4-H exhibit & interactive fair, meeting new and old friends from all over Georgia, but most of all. . . FUN!
