UGA Cooperative Extension
Cobb County Extension Office
Mission
Our mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.
Cobb County Extension provides trainings, programs, resources and services as the educational outreach of the University of Georgia. Cooperative Extension came into existence on a national level in 1914 with the passage by Congress of the Smith-Lever Act.
Cobb County Extension works in the following program areas:
Urban Agriculture
Urban Agriculture in Cobb County has two primary areas of concern: home horticulture and the green industry. While seemingly two different entities there is a surprising similarity. Free seminars are provided to the public relative to current growing times or conditions. Many questions may be answered by the hundreds of pamphlets on hand. Just call or drop by the office and request one on horticulture. More information on Agriculture & Natural Resources....
Family & Consumer Sciences
Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) is an applied discipline that uses knowledge generated through research to address real-world issues affecting individuals, families and communities and the industries and organizations serving families.
