The UGA Family and Consumer Science Department offers information on a variety of topics through the local Extension Office. They include the following areas:
Children, Youth, and Families
Provides parents and caregivers positive guidance and nurturance for children, promotes positive development with all ages and encourages informed consumer decisions.
Foods and Nutrition
Helps consumers understand the relationship between food and health, promote informed nutrition decisions and regular physical activity, etc.
Consumer Economics
Provides information on how consumers can best budget their resources, the most efficient way to save for retirement, and how to mangage through a financial crisis.
Housing and Environment
Teach how to reduce exposure to environmental contaminants in the home, enable consumers to acquire and maintain affordable housing, and the most efficient ways to manage household demand on natural resources.
