Junior (Grades 7 & 8)
- Youth Involvement in community service projects, youth organizations and life skills training have been shown to reduce the teen pregnancy rate by 33% and school drop-out rate by 50% according to the Search Institute.
- The same studies indicate that youth in 6th-12th grades that are involved in community service are about half as likely to be involved in negative behaviors.
What is Delta Eta?
Delta Eta is the name give to our Junior 4-Hers. In DeKalb, 4-H members in middle school are considered Junior 4-H’ers. To learn more about Delta Eta, view our Quick Fact Sheet.
Delta Eta 4-H’ers learn basic leadership, citizenship and life skills through:
- Club Meetings
- Competitions
- Camps
- Conferences and Rallies
Delta Eta 4-H meeting has three parts:
- Business (led by student 4-H officers)
- Educational Program (led by adult leader)
- Fun (led by 4-H members)
Delta Eta is a club where members can get involved to make a difference for themselves and their communities.
Wildlife and Forestry Judging
Learn how Georgia native animals survive and how they survive. Learn tree identification, working a compass, tree diseases, insect identification, measuring distance and volume. Become aware of your environment. Travel and compete to put your new knowledge to work. Review our Summer in the City Brochure for details.
Consumer Judging
Learn how to make the best selection when choosing and buying checking accounts, cargo pants, yogurt and cell phone plans! Review our Summer in the City Brochure for details.
District Project Competition
County Project Achievement winners stay overnight at Rock Eagle 4-H Center for district competition. Portfolio Workshop, (like a resume) 4-H’ers learn to put together a record of your 4-H activity for the year by documenting all of their hard work.
4-H Teen Leaders
4-H Teen Leaders mentor & become a positive role model for Clover members at Fall Festival, 4-H skating parties, officer training, camp & other events. Review our Summer in the City Brochure for details.
Leadership Junior Conferences are filled with activities include dances, youth rallies, motivational speakers and great workshops at Rock Eagle 4-H Center! At our Junior Rally and Conference, spend a weekend away at a 4-H Center loaded with music, fun and activity.
Community Service Projects
Contribute your time and ideas to help others via the Coat & Blank Drives, Literacy Efforts, Food Drives, Recycling Initiatives.
Junior Summer Camps
Enjoy overnight stays at one of several 4-H Centers. Swim, eat, attend workshops, dance, meet up with new & old friends. Georgia All Stars tour colleges and universities or get on track to preparing for college, admittance requirements, dormitory living and discovering the learning environment that works best for you.
County Council “The Power of Youth!”
Make a difference in what you do and in the lives of others. Create a service project with elected youth board officers and help your community. District 4-H Officers campaign for district board member positions for leadership opportunity. Includes informative workshops, assemblies, parties, swimming, sporting events and good food.
Delta Eta Socials
Having fun together! We plan it; we do it. Bowling, movies, pool parties, Six Flags, skating, Georgia National Fair, 4-H Rush Party, eating, tubing, Hawks basketball...the list goes on.
4-H Awards Night recognizes DeKalb 4-H’ers commitment and hard work. This is a very special evening supported by volunteers, parents, leaders and elected officials.
Financial Literacy & Workforce Preparation
Learn the importance of starting early with savings, investing and checking accounts. Learn to be the best at any career with business etiquette, tips for work success, career choices and opportunities.
Officers Training
Officers from each club are trained by volunteers to use skills to lead their clubs at each meeting.
Portfolio Workshop
This is where you will get started in preparing for project achievement.

4-H Teen Leaders
