UGA Cooperative Extension

DeKalb County Extension Office:
Master Gardener Transfer Policy

YES, we are always excited to get new blood and new ideas. To become a part of Georgia Master Gardener, DeKalb County, you are asked to do the following:

  1. Supply proof of your master gardener training and completion of the program from the state you have moved from (i.e. certificate, letter from past County Extension Agent or Program Coordinator).
  2. Must purchase current Georgia Master Gardener Handbook and name badge for $60 through our DeKalb County Extension Agent.
  3. Be willing to audit 6-8 Master Gardener Training sessions as outlined by the supervising extension agent. These classes are required so that you can become familiar with Georgia plants and Georgia growing conditions.
  4. You may also be asked to take and pass an open book mid-term and/or final exam.
  5. You must be willing to give 25 hours or more of active volunteer service assisting the extension service with its activities. This is to be accomplished the same year you complete your classroom audits.

Once these conditions have been met, you will be awarded a Georgia Master Gardener Certificate and be retained on our active volunteer list.
