Fannin County 4-H’ers Take Honors at 4-H Event
On Saturday, March 27, 13 Fannin County Cloverleaf (5th and 6th grade) 4-H members joined over 245 other 4-H members at the Union County Middle School in Blairsville to participate in Cloverleaf Project Achievement. At the competition, members presented an illustrated talk or demonstration in their project area. Fannin
4-H’ers had been working hard for the competition and their hard work paid off, as 10 of the 13 members captured a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place ribbon. Fannin County 4-H also received an award for having the largest participation increase for 2010 Cloverleaf Project Achievement.
4-H’ers chose from 65 projects for their demonstration. Many people may think 4-H is just about cows and cooking, but it’s so much more than that. Today’s projects include international, veterinary science, air science, computers, water conservation, photography, and safety, just to name a few.
Competition for Cloverleaf 4-H’ers ends at district competition, but it prepares them for more advanced competition as they get older. Tammye Beck, 4-H Program Assistant, said competing at Project Achievement also helps develop self-esteem and confidence.
