UGA Cooperative Extension
Fulton County Extension Office:
Agriculture & Natural Resources
Our Agriculture and Natural Resources programs provide research-based information, educational programming and resources to homeowners and commercial clientele in areas of landscape maintenance, pest control, wildlife control, vegetable and fruit production, annuals, perennials, gold medal winners, trees, shrubs, turf-grass and alternative agriculture production. We also connect the citizens of Fulton County with certified arborists in the county.
Soil samples can be tested to help clientele develop and maintain a more productive soil by providing information on nutrient availability and soil pH. Water samples can also be tested for safety purposes as well. Visitors can bring samples of plants, weeds or insects for identification and sound advice.
Atlanta Urban Gardening Program (AUGP)
Since 1978, the Atlanta Urban Gardening Program has strived to bring people from different economic, cultural, racial and generational backgrounds together through gardening. AUGP works in the community providing the opportunity for thousands of families to experience growing their own fresh vegetables. This gives people a chance to come together, work, grow and learn together. (Click here for more information.)
For more information about the Atlanta Urban Gardening Program, please contact Bobby Wilson via email or call (404) 762-4085.
Master Gardener Program
The Master Gardener Program in Georgia is a volunteer training program designed to help Extension agents transfer research-based information about gardening and related subjects to the public by training home gardeners. Master Gardeners currently are active in many Georgia counties. Through this program, volunteers benefit from the classes and ongoing training and the opportunity to share knowledge with others; the agents and community benefit from the service. For more information about the Master Gardener program in your area, contact one of our Agriculture and Natural Resources Agents: Louise Estabrook (North Fulton), Grantly Rickett (South Fulton) or Interim Director George Hadley (Central Fulton) by calling (404) 332-2400.
