Gwinnett County Cooperative Extension

Mission

Our mission is to extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

Goals for Our Citizens

Our goal is to educate homeowners, hobby farmers, master gardeners, and green industry representatives about management of soil and water to produce a healthier environment in and for our gardens, pastures, animals, and landscapes.

Agriculture & Natural Resources

We offer training in landscaping, pest management, identification of weeds and plant diseases and researched information for clients to achieve their highest goals as a homeowner and professional. Soil samples and water analysis testing for pH or lead are processed through UGA laboratories. We serve as a collection site for these samples as well as results.

Extension Plant Sale

Each year, beginning in January, Gwinnett Extension begins taking pre-paid orders for their annual Plant Sale. Varieties of "tried and true" plants are offered including blueberries, raspberries, figs, and apple trees. Orders are taken from January through March 16th, 2012. There is a one day pick up date of March 29th at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Use this link to access the 2012 Plant order form. Information about the plants offered is at: 2012 Plants offered. 4-H

We offer life skills training through hands-on learning in the second largest 4-H program in Georgia. Youth from 5th thru 12th grade can enroll in project activities, leadership skills, camps, and more.

Family and Consumer Sciences

Individuals and families can learn critical life skills affecting each of us today and in the future. We offer information programs on parenting, child/personal care, senior citizens and more.
