State BB Tournament

State BB Tournament

In April, Jason Lacount qualified high enough at the Madison County BB Match to attend the State 4-H BB Target Challenge Weekend held at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center. 538 shooters from all over the state of Georgia descended on the shooting range at Rock Eagle for an entire day of fierce competition. Led by his grandfather James Lacount, Jason went on to impress us all by shooting over 80% in all four positions and on the written test that makes up part of the tournament score. Positions include prone, standing, sitting and kneeling. Jason walked away with a score of 416 out of a possible 500. We are very proud of Jason's dedication and the hard work that he and his grandfather put in.

2011 BB Team 2011 Habersham County Project S.A.F.E. BB Team

On March 19, 2011 a group of Cloverleaf 4-H'ers traveled from Habersham County to Comer, GA to compete in the Madison County State Qualifying BB Match. These 4-H'ers have been learning proper firearm safety, the four basic positions of standing, kneeling, sitting and prone, and the self-discipline necessary to handle a firearm properly. Each shooter learned all of this and then competed with other groups from all over Northeast GA. Each shooter's parent or guardian served as loader and spotter during practices and competitions. Pictured from left to right are: Coach Andy Haygood, Levi D., Joshua W., Robert W., Joseph M., Jason L. and Eli C. Jason, the only returning member of last years team, will be representing Habersham County at the State BB Tournament at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA. Jason also competed at the state level last year. We are very proud of all these students have accomplished.

4-H Day at the CapitolGroup Picture with Representative Rick Austin (left) and Senator Jim Butterworth (right).

On February 7, 2011, a group of 27 Habersham County 4-H'ers made a trip to the State Capitol in Atlanta for "4-H Leadership Day at the Capitol." Habersham County had the largest delegation of 4-H members present. The day started with a bus ride with Mr. Steve London. We had a Chick-fil-A lunch at the Capitol Depot where we heard Governor Deal speak to our group. We then broke off into small groups led by our amazing volunteer leaders and our fantastic teen leaders. These groups got to tour the Capitol Museum, visit the House and Senate Chambers, have a picture made with Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and meet with our own Representative, Rick Austin and our Senator, Jim Butterworth.
