Pond Management Guides
Currently our GA Publications are under revision due to changes in DNR-WRD’s pond program. Once they are finished we’ll repost them for you to enjoy. Until now check out some good guides from other states. Much of the research in Pond Management comes from Homer Swingle & Auburn University. His influence is evident in many of our Southeastern Pond Management Publications below:

- Texas Pond Management Guide

Population Assessment & Management
“Pond Balance” is a term coined by Dr. Homer Swingle at Auburn University to describe the health of a ponds fish population. There are several methods that can be utilized to assess balance in ponds. Balance can be checked using Swingle Seine Haul Analyses, Relative Weight Calculations, or through Electrofishing Samples.
Got Problems with Aquatic Vegetation?
County Agents can help you with weed identification and control recommendations for your pond. It's best to collect a sample in a jar or zip-lock bag or digital photos in early spring and submit them to your local Extension Office for identification.
