UGA Cooperative Extension Mission
Our mission is to extend life long learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in Agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.
The Harris County Extension office offers residents many agricultural services including but not limited to soil and water analysis along with in person consultations with our Ag Agent, educational publications and information on a wide array of homeowner, farmer and consumer topics. Free publications are available at our office or online. Through Harris County Extension we also have the 4-H Youth Development Program in which students 4th - 12th grade can participate in numerous 4-H activities. Our 4-H Agent and 4-H support staff provide educational club meetings and activities to 4-H'ers.
From online resources to in-person meetings and events, our expertise is second to none.

Mar 18 GrassMasters GrassMasters is a 7-session series focusing on forage production in Georgia. Topics include Introduction to Forages, Grazing Management, Hay Production, Forage Quality, Fertilization, Pest Management, Rainfall Simulation and using Precision Ag in Forages. The training will be held every Monday and Thursday in March with the exception of March 14th.

Harris County has something to offer everyone. From our small farms, major manufacturing, and wonderful tourist destinations with much history you are sure to be captivated by the beauty of Harris County. Some places you don't want to miss include and enjoy riding through the rural areas of beautiful Harris County.
The carries the name of the famous racehorse and the diesel passenger train that once traveled through Pine Mountain between Columbia and Atlanta.
The trail conveniently begins in downtown , where trail users can find parking, bike parking, and refreshments. It then travels along the converted railroad right-of-way sandwiched between US 27/ Main Street and Commerce Avenue. The trail goes through the town and out the southern end, peeling away from the road at about the mile mark, where it starts to become more shrouded with trees. The trail currently comes to an end along Mobley Rd, but further phases will see it expanded. Harris County had acquired 21 miles of unused railway for future conversion into trails.
