4-H and Youth Development
General Info
What is 4-H?
4-H is an educational program focusing on leadership, citizenship, public speaking and life skills. We are the youth program of The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service. 4-H began as a Boys Corn Club and a Girls Tomato Canning Club; however, 4-H today teaches computer skills, recycling, photography, nutrition, violence prevention, teamwork, and many other topics.
Who is eligible?
Any youth, ages 9-19, may join. Liberty County 4-H has more than 1,200 members.
Where does 4-H meet?
4-H members in 5th grade meet monthly during school. 6th-8th grade 4-H'ers meet as an after-school club at their school. High school 4-H'ers meet at the 4-H Office in the evening. Special activities and field trips are held after school hours.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for membership. Optional activities may have a nominal charge.
What about parents?
Parents are an important part of 4-H activities and are always welcome.
