Lowndes County Extension Office:
4-H Youth Development
4-H Clubs

School Clubs

Beginning in 5th grade, the Lowndes County 4-H staff serves as a partner in education with Lowndes County and Valdosta City school systems to provide hands-on experiential learning opportunities that follow the Georgia Performance Standards. We work with teachers to offer co-curriculuar lessons monthly in their classrooms. This is most students' first experience with 4-H.

Teachers assist the students by collaborating with 4-H on informational writing projects required for students and offering them the opportunity to participate in an educational writing and presentation activity called 4-H Project Achievement. In Fall 2010, over 550 students entered informational essays in the County Project Achievement contest with 133 placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Students wrote on more than 40 topics of their interest.
