As of fall 2006, Georgia 4-H and County Extension offices were written into the Georgia Performance Standard for 5th grade science S5L2 - Inherited Traits (sample tasks "D"). A video lesson taught by University of Georgia plant scientists is available for check out from the 4-H Office. The video will show how to use transfer characteristics of plants to produce such plants as drought-resistance, varied rose color, azaleas that bloom at different times of the year, Vidalia onions, juicier apples, faster growing evergreen trees, etc. Call (229) 333-5185 to reserve the video.
