4-H Youth Development
What Is 4-H?
4-H is a world in which youth and adults learn, grow, and work together as catalysts for positive change. 4-H's mission is to assist youth in becoming self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society through "hands on" learning experiences.
Who Can Join 4-H?
Any youth ages 9-19 is eligible to join 4-H. Being a member of 4-H is free. Every elementary school in Meriwether County have 4-H Clubs in their 5th grade classes. 4-H Clubs are also offered at Greenville Middle and Manchester Middle. Contact the Extension Office for information about enrolling in 4-H.

Nineteen 4-H'ers Compete at Jr/Sr DPA
Nineteen 4-H'ers represented Meriwether County 4-H at Jr/Sr DPA, March 5-7. These 4-H'ers put a lot of effort into their projects over the last year and did an excellent job at competition. The 4-H'ers prepared an 8-10 minute presentation about their project and completed a portfolio of the project activities they had completed in the last year.

********************************************************Meriwether 4-H'ers Attend Junior Conference
On November 7-8, five Meriwether County 4-H'ers attended Junior Conference at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. This conference is for 4-H'ers in the 7th-8th grades. While at the conference, 4-H'ers participated in Health Rocks! workshops and participated in several service projects including making Thanksgiving cards for soldiers and packing HERO packs which are given to families that have soldiers deployed.

4-H'ers Compete at Cotton Boll & Consumer Judging Jamboree
Nine Meriwether County 4-H'ers attended the Area Cotton Boll and Consumer Jamboree in Perry on Thursday, November 5. They judged classes of breakfast bars, pajama pants, credit cards, and sleeping bags. They also prepared a 30-second commercial about cotton. The team did a great job representing Meriwether County 4-H!!
