  • Apr 23 Backyard Cattle 101 Have you been considering getting cattle for meat or milk for your family but are not sure where to start? Let's get your backyard cattle journey started on the right foot. Oconee County Extension will be hosting a 2-day workshop on the basics of backyard cattle. Meeting dates will be Tuesday, 4/23 and Thursday, 4/25 at the Oconee County Extension Office from 6-7:30PM. Registration will cover both days so you'll only have to pay the $20 fee once! A light dinner will be provided. Participants will also receive a gift to help them start their backyard cattle journey. If you would like more information about cattle or are interested in registering for the Backyard Cattle 101 program, call 706-542-7078 or stop by the UGA Extension – Oconee County office at 1420 Experiment Station Rd., Watkinsville, GA.

  • Apr 25 Pickelball a Weigh Love to play Pickelball? Looking for ways to get active? Curious to learn more healthy eating habits? Come to the Walton County Pickelball a weigh class. We will learn health living tips and tricks from FACS Agent Jake Conner and then walk next door to the Walton County Pickelball Courts where we will have time to play as a class. Already experienced? Then jump right in? New to the game? We will have experienced pickelball players ready to walk you through the basics so you can feel confident playing, having fun and being active!

  • Apr 25 Backyard Gardening - Vegetables Interested in growing your own vegetables? Join us for this program! This will be best suited for beginner growers who want to dip their toe in the vegetable world. We will learn about different growing techniques, maintenance, and what to look out for. We will have a few different vegetable starts available for you to take home and grow yourself, as well as growing instructions/options specific to each vegetable. The program will be held on April 25, 2024, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at the Rockdale County Extension Office located at 1127 West Ave SW, Conyers, GA 30012. We hope to see you there!
